Beginning of Greetings from the President
Today, the demand for new knowledge with the potential shape the future of humankind is greater than ever. Because of this need, the Institute of Convergence Science (ICONS) was established to open new horizons of knowledge through integrated and interdisciplinary approaches to studies in the humanities, arts, social sciences, and natural sciences. Embracing theoretical inquiry and practical applications, ICONS will enable effective communication and collaboration between its different research centers by establishing a comprehensive network of researchers drawn from all four of Yonsei's campuses.
As the institute that will organize and coordinate convergence research Yonsei, ICONS will promote creative and innovative convergence research, while encouraging sustainable development in each of its individual research centers. The cooperation and collaboration enabled by ICONS's large research network will both optimize the research environment and enhance Yonsei's status as a world-class research institution. Epitomizing the vision of Yonsei's "Third Founding," ICONS will facilitate convergence research that fulfills Yonsei's mission of contributing to the betterment of society by creating knowledge.
