Mr. Joseph Fan is a venture partner with WI Harper Group, a venture capital that focuses in Greater China on digital media, clean energy, and health care services. Mr. Fan is the Founder and Chairman of Fulin Culture & Arts Foundation that is devoted to Chinese art preservation, restoration, promotion, and education.
Previously, Carlyle Private Equity Group appointed Mr. Fan as the Vice Chairman & Group CEO of kbro--the largest cable TV systems and broadband service provider in Taiwan.
Mr. Fan successfully completed a deal and sold kbro to the shareholder of Taiwan Mobile, which became known as Asia Private Equity Deal of the Year in 2010.
Prior to Carlyle, Mr. Fan was the President & CEO of Taiwan Fixed Network Company as well as the Founder and President of Taiwan Mobile. Under his leadership, Taiwan Mobile became the number one mobile operator and the first telecommunication initial public listing in Taiwan.
Prior to Taiwan, Mr. Fan worked at Hutchison Telecommunications Group in Hong Kong and had extensive experiences in the telecommunications industry in the Asia Pacific region. He also worked at Yamada Corporation in Japan in the aviation business. Mr. Fan was trained as an engineer and started his career in the aviation industry in the United States.
Mr. Fan was selected by Business Week as a "Stars of Asia" as one of the 50 most influential leaders in Asia in 2000. Mr. Fan was also awarded by various domestic and international institutions with many management and leadership honors. Mr. Fan graduated from the University of Southern California and graduate studied at the California Institute of Technology
